Sempermed USA announces the launch of our newest nitrile examination glove brand, StarMed® Select. This glove joins the StarMed® family which already includes StarMed® latex, StarMed® ROSE nitrile, StarMed® Ultra nitrile, and StarMed® PLUS nitrile. StarMed Select gloves feature the Smart Dispense Technology, Single Glove DeliveryTM packaging method, which is proven to reduce wrinkled gloves and eliminate waste. Each box is packed to perfection and dispenses one glove at a time.

Effective immediately, Sempermed USA will be retiring our Best Touch® Nitrile powder-free exam glove (reorder numbers BTNA101 – BTNA105). This decision was prompted by decreased demand and sales.

A gas tariff that went into effect July 15, 2019 has added unanticipated production costs for glove manufacturing companies in Malaysia. Due to the changes in production costs, disposable glove prices will increase.

As your global glove expert, Sempermed strives to keep you informed of relevant situations that could affect product supply in the market. If your current supply is now at risk, we have surgical gloves manufactured in Austria and examination/general purpose gloves manufactured in Malaysia available for immediate shipment.

Over the past few years, individual states have been legislating the use of latex gloves in retail food establishments. Legislation varies from state to state. Currently Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, and Oregon have some form of legislation or recommendation regarding the use of latex gloves in food handling, food preparation, ready-to-eat foods, and food establishments. A few other states are in discussions about enacting similar legislation in the near future.

On 13 August 2019 the United States Trade Representative announced next steps in the process of imposing additional 10% tariffs on Chinese imports. The previous proposed “List 4” was divided into two parts: “List 4A” (effective 1 September 2019) and “List 4B” (effective 15 December 2019). Sempermed imports from China only gloves manufactured of plastic, such as vinyl and polyethylene. These products are included on “List 4B.” As a result, proposed additional tariffs for these gloves are delayed until 15 December 2019. On 23 August 2019 it was announced that the proposed tariffs taking effect on 15 December 2019 will be increased by 5%. If imposed, the tariffs will result in necessary price adjustments no later than February 1, 2020. As expected, these price increases will be passed along to glove consumers.
