Lead Time Increases
The newly-named Covid-19, also known as novel-Coronavirus, is creating increasingly stringent containment measures throughout China.
Quarantine and travel restrictions accompanied by worker shortages, transportation limitations, and significant increases in domestic personal protection equipment demand has resulted in increased delivery times for vinyl, nitrile, and latex gloves. Lead times have been extended from 8 weeks to 16 weeks or more based on product demand. This global issue is affecting all glove
suppliers worldwide.
Following the Chinese New Year, factories were set to resume normal operations on February 17th. Unfortunately, many vinyl factories remain closed with no set date for reopening.
Recently, there has been a spike in the number of reported cases and deaths in China. As long as quarantine and travel restrictions are in place, many workers are not be able to travel back to their homelands to resume working. We are closely working with CDC, SNS, WHO, and other global health organizations regarding these supply chain constraints.
Sempermed USA’s supply has not yet been affected. We have put measures in place to
protect our existing customer demand. Because stockpiling supplies adversely affects the supply chain, we want to use more efficient methods to control inventory.
CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield stated, “the coronavirus will likely stay for beyond this season, or beyond this year. Right now there is no evidence to me that this outbreak is under control.”
Sempermed is monitoring the situation closely and will communicate further details as they become available.
At Sempermed, we care about your comfort and protection, always. It is the driving force behind what we do. Our gloves are disposable. The people we protect are not. ®
