Potential ILA Strike
As some of you may already know, the ILA (International Longshoremen’s Association) had considered going on strike this past September. This strike would have had an impact on the Eastern US and Gulf Coast ports. Although the strike did not occur in September, we have been informed that the possible strike date has now moved to December 29, 2012.

We would like our customers to know that Sempermed had knowledge of this strike and took precautions back in June for the potential issue. Furthermore, we will be prepared for the potential strike at the end of year.

Sempermed has a contingency plan that would allow for us to withstand a business disruption of approximately one month as a result from the strike. This plan includes a process within Sempermed’s Customer Service and Logistics departments to allow us to continue to service our Distribution Center customers.

We at Sempermed hope the strike does not occur. However, in case it does, we look to support you and your customers without having your supply chain negatively impacted.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your Sempermed representative or call 800-366-9545.
